Social Security: Factors, Benefits and Strategies

Please join the Essex County Estate Planning Council on Tuesday, Sept. 20 for an educational breakfast featuring Stephen Richardson, deputy regional communications director of the Social Security Administration of New England. 

A buffet breakfast will be served at 7:30am, followed by our speaker at 8am.


Event Description

Mr. Richardson will discuss topics related to retirement, spouse's benefits and Medicare, including:

  •  Factors of entitlement
  •  How benefits are calculated                                     
  •  Claiming Strategies     
  •  Working while collecting Social Security
  •  Enrollment Periods    

Registration

Registration is required for this event. 

Fees are as follows: Members and First-Time Guests of Members, $35; Guests, $60.

Season pass holders are admitted to this event at no additional cost but should still register online to ensure an accurate headcount. Please select the "pre-paid" option when registering.

About our speaker

Stephen Richardson is a deputy regional communications director for the Social Security Administration in New England. He began his career with the SSA in 1982 as a claims representative in the Roxbury District Office and, since that time, has worked in several different management and staff positions in the Boston area. 

In 2005, Richardson served as a Capital Hill fellow and worked as a professional budget analyst for the Senate Budget Committee in Washington, D.C. 

A native New Englander, Richardson received a Bachelor's in political science from Northeastern University, and a Master's degree in public affairs from Emerson College. 

As a public affairs specialist, Richardson is responsible for coordinating the SSA's public affairs/public information activities in the six New England states. He has been particularly active in the past 14 years spearheading the agency's efforts to educate the America public about Social Security.
